I was glad to hear it once, but if I want to listen to an audio version of The Hobbit again, I'll find an unabridged telling of the story over this dramatization. Maybe it's because I don't really enjoy the protagonists bumbling around and getting Deus Ex Machina'd out of everything. Want to Read saving…. This was far from my favorite adaptation, and while it was quaint in its own way, I suppose, I'm a bit disappointed that this was my son's introduction to The Hobbit, which, of course, I adore in its original form.

Like the eagles, Gollum, thrush, and raven all made me wish they would stop talking. I sort of thought I was being Punk'd when it started playing. I decided that listening to the audiobook of the original would be a better bet. But the script is faithful to the book for the most part, as we get all the important parts of the original story.

Hated the voices, often overpowered by the sound effects, quality of music was poor. This version, if I may use a Bilboism, really hits the spot. I'm glad that it's on here because I don't have the CD version, that i listened to late at night all those years ago, with me at university. The negatives were the sound effects often made it difficult to hear the dialogue. Overall, this was a faithful and enjoyable adaptation, and it was definitely a fun way to spend a few hours. Audio CDAbridged. Even though this was done 50 years ago ,as of this review it sounds fresh and modern.
The Hobbit
Yes, it is slightly abridged and altered, but it more than makes up for it in atmosphere and charm. A fun and short dramatizatipn radio drama of The Hobbit. Granted, this production does seem a little dated, especially after being spoiled by dramatizaion production value in Peter Jackson's film adaptations, but in the end, the performance is pretty charming and fun.
Didn't really enjoy it. I read on someone else's review that the original was lost and this was restored and that's why it is of inferior quality.
